We commission and consider guest essays from builders, architects, landscape designers, materials scientists and homeowners who have something specific to say about decks in Victoria. We do not publish generic “top ten decking tips” or copy spun from a product brochure.

What we take

• Original work, 1,200 words or more, in Australian English.
• A Melbourne or Victorian frame: climate, soil, councils, BAL, body corporate, or a named suburb problem.
• Practical detail a reader can act on — spans, species, falls, finishes, costs in AUD, or process.
• Conflicts declared: if you sell the product or the trade, say so in the first screen.

What we refuse

• Thin SEO articles written to place a backlink.
• Unsolicited paid links. Any accepted promotional link is marked rel="sponsored" and labelled on the page.
• Stock advice copied from manufacturer PDFs without local reporting.
• Attacks on named trades or companies without documents.

How to pitch

Send one paragraph, a working title, and why you are the person to write it, via the contact form. Attach nothing until we ask. We reply when the idea fits a hub: timber and materials, design and planning, building, care, or outdoor living.

Accepted pieces are edited to house style, given a byline, and kept under our editorial standards. We do not sell the URL. Images must be Creative Commons, public domain, or owned by you, and will be credited on the image credits page.
